Wow, hard to believe that we are already entering the last week of March! We had parent/teacher interviews on Thursday evening and Friday morning. It was wonderful meeting with all of you.

Tuesday is Kiwanis choral speech in the gym. Students are asked to wear black pants and a white short sleeved t-shirt (plain with no markings on front of shirt). Girls are asked to wear their hair pulled back away from their face. Grade one performs first at 9:00 but we are asking everyone to come by 8:45 to ensure seating. They request that no one interrupts the performances once they have started. There is a small fee per person at the door.

The Crocodile’s Toothache
by   Shel Silverstein

The Crocodile went to the dentist
And sat down in the chair,
And the dentist said
, “Now tell me, sir,
Why does it hurt and where?”
And the Crocodile said,
“I’ll tell you the truth,
I have a terrible ache in my tooth.”
And he opened his jaws so wide,   so wide,
That, the dentist……..he climbed right inside,
And the dentist laughed,
“Oh isn’t this fun?”As he pulled the teeth out, one by one.
And the Crocodile cried,
“You’re hurting me so!
Please put down your pliers and let me go.”
But the dentist laughed with a, "Ho Ho Ho",And he said,
“I still have twelve to go —
Oops, that’s the wrong one,   I confess,
But ……what’s one crocodile’s tooth….. more or less?”

Then suddenly……….  the jaws went……….  S N A P,
And the dentist was gone, right off the map,
And where he went one could only guess…

To North or South or East or West…
He left no forwarding address.

But, what’s one dentist, more or less?
We will continue our Lenten and Easter activities for the next two weeks. Good Friday is on April 14th this year.

Dates to remember:
Mar 28 - Kiwanis Choral Speech - SPFA Gym

Weekly Update - March 20 - 24

Church choir clip art 2

Last week was incredibly busy and amazing. We learned about our patron Saint Patrick, went to mass as a school community, had a scavenger hunt and shared the wonderful leprechaun traps the students made. We placed our traps on the school staircase and left them over the weekend to see if we can trap a leprechaun!

Our Lenten activities continue this week and we will be learning about the Stations of the Cross. Also for the Lent service this week, they are asking students to bring a small flashlight if possible.

It will be a short week because interviews are Thursday night and Friday morning. I look forward to meeting with all of you. Please note that each interview is 10 minutes. I will try to keep everything running smoothly and on time. Please let me know if these times don't work and you would like to arrange a different time after school or at lunch.

Kiwanis Choral Speech is in the SPFA Gym on Tuesday March 28th. Students are asked to wear black pants  and a white short sleeved t-shirt (plain; no markings on front of shirt). Girls are asked to wear their hair pulled back away from their face. It is $2.00 per person and people should come a few minutes early to ensure seating. I will let you know as soon as I know the exact time of their performance.

Weekly Update - March 13 - 17

Monday is a no school day because all of the Holy Spirit Division staff will be meeting at East C.C.H.S. for Spiritual Development Day.

Our fieldtrip to Green Haven is on Tuesday afternoon. The bus will leave the school about 12:40ish and arrive at Green Haven about 1:00. This fieldtrip fits it very nicely with our Science program because students learn all about plants. Thank you to the parents who will be joining us as chaperones.

This week we will continue with the Lent and St. Patrick's Day themes. There has been lots of talk and excitement about the Leprechaun Traps. I look forward to seeing them as they come in.

The conference manager is open on the 15th for parents to book interviews. If you find that none of the times work for you, I am happy to meet after school or at lunch on a different day.

Students have been practicing both of their poems for Kiwanis Festival. Our performance will be held in the  St. Patrick Fine Arts school gymnasium on Tuesday March 28th. I will give more details as we get closer to the date. Please take some time to go over the poem's words with your child.

Weekly Update - March 6 - 10

We have had a busy time completing assessments for report cards in the last couple of weeks. I am so proud of your children! They have made some substantial gains in the past few months.

The next few weeks are going to be very busy! We are off to the Shrek production at St. Francis on Thursday. We have Spiritual Development day on the 13th and a fieldtrip to Green Haven on the 14th. There was some confusion over times but we will be leaving the school at 12:40ish and our session is from 1:00 - 2:10.

Soon it will be St. Patrick’s Day!! We know that it is at this time of the year that those “wee little leprechauns” are out to make their mischief. It is our job then to try and catch them. Therefore, we are asking each child, with the help of his/her family, to build a “leprechaun trap”. Last year we just about caught the rascals and we have pictures to prove that they were cavorting around our traps. But alas, we failed to catch one. This year could be the year! We can feel it in our bones. Please bring the traps to school between Tuesday  March 14 and Friday March 17.  They will be returned on Monday March 20th.

Parent-teacher interview are from 4:30-8:00 pm Thursday, March 23rd and 9:00-11:00 am on Friday, March 24th. The conference manager is open on the 15th for parents to book interviews. If you find that none of the times work for you, I am happy to meet after school or at lunch on a different day.

Students have just started to practice one of their two poems for Kiwanis Festival. Our performance will be held in the  St. Patrick Fine Arts school gymnasium on Tuesday March 28th. I will give more details as we get closer to the date. Here is one of the two poems they will be reciting. Please take some time to go over the poem's words with your child.
