It was another great week in grade one! I'm sure that all of your children are  very tired and ready for a weekend...grade one is a big jump from kindergarten! I notice that the students are falling into routine very well and learning to work and play with new friends. The last few minutes of each day we meet at the carpet for wrap up and prayer. At this time, each student earns their "exit ticket" by telling me one thing they have learned that day. Some of that answers are pretty general "We learned math", but I am gradually encouraging them to become more specific "We are learning ABAB patterns". We have started working on our reading stamina and we are up to 4 minutes of focused reading behaviours!!

On Thursday we paired up with the grade three's for a period of computer instruction and on Friday we met our reading buddies from grade five. At this stage our buddies are reading to us, but that will soon change!

It was wonderful to meet those of you who came to the "Meet The Teacher" on Thursday night. Please know that you don't have to wait for formal interview times to contact me with questions or concerns.
