The last week of September consisted of beautiful weather and eventful days. It was wonderful taking the students to mass at St. Martha Church on Wednesday! I was so proud of how respectful and well behaved they were, it was a very meaningful experience. In Religion we will be talking about the parts of mass so that it will make more sense when they attend church. We had the Terry Fox run on Thursday and couldn't have asked for better student awareness and participation. The grade five reading buddies paired up with the grade ones again on Friday. In addition to reading with them, they also helped their buddy practice the October spelling words.
This week we will focus on Thanksgiving words and activities. Please remember to have your child check out raz-kids online leveled readers. Its a great way for students to engage in reading at their "just right" level.
Things to remember in October 1st to 5th
· Oct 1 - early dismissal @ 2:35 for staff meeting
· Oct 5 - Thanksgiving liturgy @ 11:40 - Parents are welcome to attend
· Oct 5 - first spelling test - see October words for test #1 list
If possible, please help your child practice the spelling words a few times before Friday.
