We had another very busy week. Your children participated in Jump Rope For Heart and Wellness Day activities. Thursday we hosted Pizza Day. A huge thank you to the parents who volunteered to distribute pizza during the lunch hour.
Students are working hard on becoming authors by writing stories they are very proud of. This week we will continue to work on our Mother's Day theme and next week we will begin our plant theme. Running club begins first thing Monday morning. It will run from 8:25 - 8:40 a.m. Mon - Thurs and from 12:05 - 12:33 p.m. Tues and Wed. All students are welcome to join. It is a great way to start the day! Parents are welcome to participate also if interested. Come one, come all! We have two fieldtrips coming up this month. On May 8th we go to SAAG (Southern Alberta Art Gallery) to view the work of students from schools throughout Lethbridge. On May 29th both Grade One classes are heading out to the Hubbard Collection at Lethbridge Colledge. We require 5 - 6 parent chaperones so all parents are welcome to join us. Monday is a site based PD Day for teachers so students get the day off. This week students will be participating in three Jump Rope for Heart sessions. Please get your pledge forms in as soon as you can!
We go to Aggie Days on Tuesday afternoon. We will be sharing the bus with the Kindergarten group so we may not have enough space for parents to ride on the bus this time. We will leave the school about 12:30 so we should arrive at the Exhibition Grounds about 12:45. We will gather as a group once we get in the doors and then we will be divided into small groups. Once that happens, the chaperones will be able to take their group and wander around at their own pace until 2:05. As soon as we do a head count we will get on the bus and head back to the school. Thank you to all of the parents who have volunteered to join us!
Pizza lunch is on Thursday and we are hosting. Thank you to all the parents who have volunteered to hand out pizza! Please arrive about 11:30, things should be all wrapped up by 12:15ish. Scholastic book orders are due this week.
Wellness Day - Please wear your team colours. Today all students will be with their teams and travel around the school to 12 different stations to explore nutrition, physical wellness and mental health.
Consent forms for Arts Alive will come home this week.

This week the students will work on our project for Arts Alive as well as Spring and Mother's Day activities.
Consent forms will come home tomorrow for our fieldtrip to Aggie Days on the afternoon of Tuesday, April 24th. This fieldtrip fits in nicely with our plants and animals Science theme as well as the rural life theme in Social Studies. As with the other fieldtrips, we will require 5 to 6 parent chaperones to accompany us. Also, we will be sharing our bus with the Kindergarten class so, unfortunately, I won't be able to guarantee that parents will be able to ride on the bus this time.

Hopefully everyone had a restful Easter holiday with lots of family fun. School begins again on Monday April 9th. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like we are going to get our Spring quite yet! We head to the Galt Museum Tuesday afternoon. Thank you to all the parents who signed up to chaperone, it will be an interesting afternoon.
