Our class consists of 9 boys and 12 girls for a total of 21 students! There will be information and educational web sites that will remain here throughout the year - so bookmark our classroom webpage to your home computer and it will be easy for your child to access these games and links at home! If you have websites you would like me to share with our class, please let me know and I will add them to our pages!

Weekly Update - September 24 - 28
Hopefully everyone is out enjoying this snow free weather! If you get an opportunity, remind your child that Saturday was the first day of Fall.
Week three was very busy. It was wonderful to see so many at the Family Blessing, dessert mingle and Meet the Teachers night. One of our many areas of focus this week is building up stamina in our Read to Self activity (There is a side link with information of Daily 5). The students are currently able to stay engaged in reading behaviours for four minutes! After they finish reading, we graph the stamina minutes...they become very motivated to beat their own record!
For the Word Work section, I have created activities using the October spelling words. Students will have many opportunities to practice their spelling words and group working skills while working with various classmates on fun activities. Our first spelling test will occur on October 5th. Please assure your child that they are just learning to spell and write and all I ask is that they do their best. The words for the first test are: a the big can up. All of the spelling words and test dates are listed on the Spelling Lists link. All of the spelling words and test dates are listed on the spelling lists link.
I started a Work on Writing activity with my students last week, it is a book called My House All Year. In this book, each student will write a sentence about every month of the year and draw a picture to accompany the sentence. This book provides students with writing, math and Science practice (time: months of the year and seasons). We will only do one page each month and I am really encouraging each student to do their best because we will show these books to their parents at Parent-Teacher Conferences.
After much discussion the staff agreed to hold the first set of interviews as we have in the past. The evenings (October 24/25th) will be broken up into 15 minute sessions for parents to meet with the teacher. The March interviews will be a different format. For parents who are unable to make the evening sessions, I am happy to meet with you at another time. Contact me if you need to book a different time.
