Pumpkin Carving Fun!
Come on leaves, start falling will ya!  Okay, I can't stand waiting any longer to break out the pumpkin activities!! Cooler weather is now upon us so we will soon begin our pumpkin/ Hallowe’en activities! Students are going to love the fun pumpkin activities I have planned for the next two weeks. We are getting ready for our 2nd annual Pumpkin Carving Project. On the afternoon of Wednesday October 24th, we will have a group of high school students join us to help students carve pumpkins into their favorite toothless faces!  I can't wait to see what my new first graders will come up with!

October Dates to Remember:

Oct 16 - last day for magazine sales
Oct 18 - 1B Fieldtrip to Helen Schuler - dress for the weather
Oct 19 - Intramural Team Colour Day. Students wear team colours.
Oct 25 - school picture retakes
Oct 26 - School Council Hallowe'en dance
Oct 31 - School Council hot lunch

Halloween - Children can get into their costumes at 1:45 (not before please!). I could use some parent helpers to help students get into their costumes. The costume parade will occur at 2:15. Parents are welcome to attend and you can come dressed as well!  We will have a small Halloween party following the parade. Because of food allergies in our room, I am asking the room reps to contact parents to supply specific items for the party. The class will be divided into 3 groups and and each group will supply items for one of our 3 parties this year (Halloween, Valentine's and Year End). If you are not called for this party, you turn will come later.

If possible, please help your child practice the spelling words by using the Spellingcity site a few times before each Friday.
