We have a busy week ahead. As a culminating activity for our social studies unit on maps and communities, our class will be building a miniature town. To begin the project, we brainstormed ideas for important community buildings, such as police stations, library buildings, schools, and more. This week students will be divided into groups. Each group will choose a specific building to design and will work together to construct our miniature town. The students are excited to begin, so the end result will hopefully be truly amazing!
We have a fieldtrip to Home Hardware coming up on February 12th. As part of our building unit, we will be constructing a notepad holder. We will need about five adult helpers so the room rep will be contacting you soon to see if you are available. Consent forms will come home this week, please return them as soon as possible. Also, please check the "Fieldtrip" link to see the upcoming fieldtrips.
I also added a new link for monthly homework. This is strictly optional for students, so please don't be concerned that the January homework calendar just appeared and it is already over half way though the month. If your child wants to participate, they can use a notebook or scribbler to complete the daily activities and I will accept them whenever they are turned in. This is not meant to add more to your already busy schedule. It is merely for those who are looking for school related activities for their eager child.
Please check the "Important Dates" link to see what is coming up this week. Have a great rest of your weekend!
