Happy Victoria Day long weekend! I hope that all of you have something exciting planned. This is going to be a very short week for the students. Monday is Victoria Day and Tuesday is a staff retreat day, so students only have three days of school next week.
As you may have noticed, your child came home with a copy of the Hail Mary and Glory Be prayers. The grade one classes will be hosting the Living Rosary Celebration and we have been working on these prayers in class. I was hoping that your child will practice them at home as well. The celebration was originally scheduled for May 24th but, due to some scheduling conflicts, it has now been moved to May 28th at 1:00 pm. Parents are welcome to join us.
I also sent a book home with each student to practice reading at home. I am encouraging them to practice reading them until they are able to read them fluently. When they are ready, they can read them to me and earn stars on a reading chart. I have a few extra copies of each book, so it is not critical if they forget to bring it to school one day.
Please note that students should bring the pedometers back (broken or not) to school as soon as possible and that pizza day is on Thursday, May 23rd.
