Weekly Update - February 10 - 14

Last week we focused on groundhog information and activities. Well, there is good news for winter lovers -- since both Punxsutawney Phil and Wiarton Willie saw their shadows this morning, winter continues for six more weeks!

This week we will concentrate on the 100th day of the school year, which falls on  Thursday the 13th. It is hard to believe that we are over half way through the school year! I have some activities planned for the week and then we will wrap up the festivities with a "Mad Hatter" parade through a few other classrooms on the 13th. I hope that you and your children have been busy creating fantastic 100th day hats for this exciting event!

I will begin assessing reading and math skills for the next report card starting February 24th. Please help your child practice counting to 100 by 1's, 2's, 5's and 10's. Also, if all the stars align, students should be reading close to level E/F and recognizing words from both the pre primer and primer sight words (look for the side link on the home page) by the March report card. I know that sounds high, but I am more than proud of the progress they are making each day.
Valentine’s Day is on Friday the 14th. Many beautiful card boxes have already come in and are on display across from the office. Thank you to the parents who have agreed to send snacks and water for the movie/snack hour on Friday afternoon.

Have a wonderful week!
