Weekly Update - April 14 - 17

I guess I shouldn't have been so quick to put up the Spring icon on last weeks update!!! Looking outside it is hard to believe that we are half way through April! However, we will continue our Easter, Spring (even if the weather doesn't cooperate) and fairytale themes this week.

We have been working on making Easter puppets with Mrs. Brownie and the first ones turned out great. Please collect empty toilet paper rolls and send them to school with your child. We are attempting to make enough puppets to be able to work in groups and create plays using our puppets. If all goes well, I will record the puppet plays and have them available for parent viewing.

We have a special guest coming on Monday to show the Grade One students how to make coloured Ukrainian eggs (Pysanky). Each student is asked to be an uncracked, hard boiled egg to decorate after the presentation.

We will be going to Aggie Days on the afternoon of April 29th. This fieldtrip fits in nicely with our plants and animals Science theme as well as the rural life theme in Social Studies. As with the other fieldtrips, we will require 4 to 5 parent chaperones to accompany us. Also, we will be sharing our bus with the other Grade One class so, unfortunately, I won't be able to guarantee that parents will be able to ride on the bus this time.

Just a reminder that pizza day is on April 17th. Good Friday is on April 18th and we have Easter holidays until Monday, April 28th.
