Weekly Update - September 19 - 23

Last week went very quickly, your children make my job such a pleasure!! While out on supervision, I spent a lot of time watching to see if students were making play plans with their peers. They often need a bit of coaching at this stage. Please let me know if your child feels left out so I can link them up with friends or encourage them to arrange play plans prior to recess breaks.

We are working on letter names and sounds and we are beginning sight words from the pre primer list. Having your child find things around the house beginning with each letter of the alphabet is a fun way to reinforce letter sounds. Also, please check out the Dolch sight word link for the word lists.

As soon as our RAZ Kids account is activated from the central office, I will set up all of the students on the Raz Kids site. This is a fantastic leveled reading computer program. Your child will have access to level appropriate books that they either read independently or have read to them. When they are able to answer the comprehension questions successfully, the program moves them along up the levels. I will send home a letter with all of the information very soon.

Tuesday is the school blessing and BBQ. It is a great way to meet other parents and have your children meet their classmates in an unstructured setting. Please check the school newsletter for all the details. I have set up a parent email list. If you have not yet given me your email address, please send it to me and I will add it to the list.

Friday is the opening Mass at St. Martha Church. The school busses will take the regular bus students to St. Martha’s Church rather than to school this morning and we will be using busses to transport all students back to school after mass. If you drop off your child at school or if your child walks to school, please arrange to transport him/her to the church for mass at 9:00 am. Please do not take your child to church before 8:30 am, as supervision will commence at
this time. Blast students will be picked up from the school and transported to the Church.

I am looking forward to another warm, wonderful week! Enjoy the rest of your weekend!!

Sept 20 - New Family Blessing @ 5:30, Welcome Back BBQ @ 6:00,
