Weekly Update - February 6 - 10

Last week we focused on groundhog activities and information. Balzac Billy saw his shadow and he predicts that Winter will be six weeks longer. Looking outside today, I am inclined to believe him!

This week we will concentrate on pre Valentines and 100th day of the school year activities. It is hard to believe that we are over half way through the school year! We have our fieldtrip to Home Depot on Thursday. Thanks to all of the parents who will be joining us! We will be making birdhouses so extra hands will be most appreciated.

The next week we celebrate Valentine's day. The morning will go on as normal, but in the afternoon we will exchange valentines, watch a short video and enjoy some delicious treats supplied by the parents. Thank you to those of you who are on treat duty!

I also have some 100th day activities planned for the week and then we will wrap up the festivities with a "Mad Hatter" parade through a few other classrooms. I hope that you and your children have been busy creating fantastic 100th day hats for this exciting event!

I will begin assessing reading and math skills for the next report card starting February 13th.  Please help your child practice counting to 100 by 1's, 2's, 5's and 10's. Also, if all the stars align, students should be reading close to level E/F by the March report card. I know that sounds high, but I am proud of the progress they are making each day.
