Last week we focused on groundhog activities and information. Great news for warm-weather fans: beloved groundhog Punxsutawney Phil did not see his shadow, therefore predicting that we will have an early spring in 2019!!
During the next few days we will concentrate on the Valentines Day and 100th day of school. It is hard to believe that we are over half way through the school year! I have some activities planned for the next week and then we will wrap up the festivities with a "Mad Hatter" parade through a few other classrooms on February 13th. I hope that you and your children have been busy creating fantastic 100th day hats for this exciting event!
Valentine's day will be celebrated on Tuesday February 14th. The morning will go on as normal and hot lunch will be provided for those who have purchased it. After the afternoon recess we will exchange valentines, watch a short video and enjoy some delicious treats supplied by the parents. Thank you to those of you who are on treat duty! If you have misplaced the student list, let me know and I will happily send you a new one.
I will begin assessing reading and math skills for the next report card starting February 11th. Please help your child practice counting to 100 by 1's, 2's, 5's and 10's. Also, if all the stars align, students will be reading close to level E/F on Raz Kids by the March report card. I know that sounds high, but I am proud of the progress they are making each day.
