Weekly Update - October 14 - 17

We went on our first fieldtrip of the year to Helen Schuler Coulee Center on the 7th. It was WONDERFUL!! We had a terrific presenter, a number of parent helpers, and fantastic weather! The students had a great time and they learned a lot about fall seasonal effects on leaves and animals. Please have your child gather leaves in a plastic bag and bring them to school. We have a couple of art projects coming up that will require leaves of all colours.

This is going to be another short week. We took part in a lot of valuable professional development last Thursday and Friday. There were many sessions offered, but I attended two especially valuable sessions. One was on digital citizenship. I discovered a great website with tons of valuable information for parents of children who use the internet. Take a few minutes to check it out, it's called www.netsmartz.org/. The other session was a meeting and sharing session with all of the grade one teachers in the district.

RAZ KIDS is up and running. It is a great way for students to increase their reading skills. Please let me know if you are having difficulty with the program. Also, remember that there is a spelling test on Friday.

Scholastic book orders will be accepted until Wednesday the 15th .
