January 22 - 26

Free January Clipart
We are already into the third week of January! Assessments for the next report card will begin in the next few weeks. Your children have made awesome gains but it is very important that they continue to read nightly and work on addition/ subtraction and counting skills (by 1,2,5 and 10).

I will be talking to the students about some of the upcoming events in February. Ground Hog Day is on February 2nd, we will be doing a few activities relating to the day earlier that week.

February 13th is going to be a very busy day! It is Shrove Tuesday and parent council will provide a pancake lunch for all of the school. We will also celebrate Valentine’s Day on this day. Students will be encouraged to decorate a box at home and bring it to school by the 12th. We will have a snack and a Valentine movie on that afternoon. The parent rep will call a few parents for snacks and water bottles. I will send home a class list so that students will be able to write a card for each of their classmates.

The school will be attending Ash Wednesday Mass at St. Martha Church from 11:00 - 12:00. Buses will transport students to and from church. Parents are welcome to join us!

The 100th day of school falls on the 15th this year. Students are encouraged to create a 100 day hat at home and wear it to school that day. We will talk about all of the different possibilities there are for their hats. Let's get creative!!

We have a fieldtrip to Home Depot coming up on March 7th. As part of our building unit, we will be constructing either a bird house or a toolbox. We will need as many adult helpers as possible. Thank you to the parents who have already indicated that they will be joining us. Please check the "Fieldtrip" link regularly to see the upcoming fieldtrips.

Please note the link for monthly homework. This is strictly optional for students. If your child wants to participate, they can use a notebook or scribbler to complete the daily activities and I will accept them whenever they are turned in. This is not meant to add more to your already busy schedule. It is merely for those who are looking for school related activities for their eager child.

Please check the "Important Dates" link to see what is coming up this week. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions about the above information. Have a great rest of your weekend!
